Today’s symposium on Immigration was a timely and meaningful discussion with an amazing panel. US Representative Joaquin Castro, Texas State Representative Diego Bernal and Immigration Attorney, Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch. Our moderator, David Martin Davies from Texas Public radio, did a fabulous job of leading today’s discussion. Sharon Mullen, cochair of the event, left us with a call to action.

Celebrating the Tenacious Twelve! The story of how 12 remarkable women saved NCJW San Antonio! Produced and directed by Rhonda Grimm! What a special event. The Magnolia pancake house banquet hall was a great place for brunch. Thank you so much to the committee for this event: Ann Winer, Irene Burns, and Elaine Kovner. Along with a host of many helpers!

Maryland just made history — recently passing a first-of-its-kind law to establish a public health grant program that will expand equitable access to abortion care across the state. We are proud to highlight the advocacy our NCJW Maryland team, who played a key role in passing this legislation: Lesley Frost, NCJW’s Maryland State Policy Advocate and the entire NCJW Maryland State Policy Advocacy committee.

Check out Lesley and Harriet Rubinson (MD SPA committee member) at the bill signing with Governor Wes Moore!

Today the US Supreme Court issued two dangerous opinions that set troubling legal precedents. These decisions weaken:

⛪️ separation between religion and state
💼 critical minority anti-discrimination protections
🏛️ longstanding civil rights precedents
👷‍♀️ crucial labor protections

NCJW’s 250,000 Jewish feminist advocates remain committed to fighting for civil rights, religious freedom, and true equality for all. Read our full statement: https://www.ncjw.org/news/national-council-of-jewish-women-dismayed-by-scotus-decisions-in-catholic-charities-bureau-and-ames-cases/
