πŸŽƒ Halloween Safety Reminder πŸ‘»

As we get ready for a fun night of costumes and candy, let’s remember safety first β€” for everyone on the road and trails tonight!

πŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ Cyclists:
✨ Be visible β€” wear bright colors, reflectors, and lights (front and rear).
🧑 Stay alert for kids crossing the street and trick-or-treaters darting between houses.
πŸ’‘ Ride defensively and predictably β€” assume others may not see you right away.

πŸš— Motorists:
⚠️ Slow down in neighborhoods and near parks or trail crossings.
🚸 Remember β€” it’s still Pedestrian Safety Month, and kids can appear suddenly.
πŸ‘€ Stay focused, no phones or distractions.

Let’s make sure everyone β€” walkers, riders, and drivers β€” gets home safe tonight.
Enjoy your Halloween and keep those lights shining bright! πŸŽƒπŸš΄πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ§‘

Happy National Public Lands Day! πŸƒπŸŒŽ

Today we celebrate the incredible places that belong to all of us! Our national parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and so many other public lands. These spaces preserve history, protect nature, and provide opportunities for adventure, learning, and connection.

At San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, we’re proud to be part of that story. From centuries-old mission walls to the flowing San Antonio River, every trail, room, and field here connects us to the people and cultures who shaped this land.

Whether you visit us today or planning your next trip soon, we invite you to explore, learn, and be inspired by YOUR public lands.

Where will your public lands adventure take you next? Let us know in the comments.

The map shows the lower 48 states, along with insets for Alaska, Hawaii, and other U.S. territories. The background is a topographic relief map, with mountains and valleys shaded in earthy tones. Green-shaded areas and labels are scattered across the map, pinpointing the locations of National parks, monuments, and historical parks. A key in the upper left corner lists all the abbreviations used on the map. NPS Graphic

Juneteenth 2025 The PastThroughout history, media has created a false narrative of what Juneteenth is by painting it as a β€œcelebration” to the end of slavery in the United States. In reality, the date commemorates the day 250,000 enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, were told they were ...

β€œIn a word, I was a pioneer and therefore had to blaze my own trail.”

-Marshall β€œMajor” Taylor

Award-winning artist Kadir Nelson pays tribute to Marshall β€œMajor” Taylor, the preeminent cyclist from the 20th century and the very first African American world champion of any sport. Here, Taylor leads a pack of cyclists through New York City streets, each representing cycling enthusiasts from eras past beginning in the 1800s through present day.
