Please join us in welcoming sweet Misty to our rescue family. ❤️

Many of you have already heard the heartbreaking story. We had tagged Vergil but because Misty and Vergil looked similar, a tragic mistake was made. Misty was mistaken for Vergil, and Vergil was euthanized before we could save him.

Our hearts are still broken for Vergil. He deserved the chance to leave the shelter and start a new life, just as Misty now has the opportunity to do. In a way that is difficult to put into words, Vergil's loss became Misty's second chance.
When we learned what had happened, we knew we couldn't leave her behind.

Today, Misty is safe, and we promise to honor Vergil's memory by giving her the love, care, and future that every dog deserves. We hope her journey will be a tribute to the life that was lost far too soon.

If you made a pledge for Vergil, we would be deeply grateful if you would consider transferring that pledge to Misty. Every donation will help provide the medical care, comfort, and support she needs as she begins this new chapter.

Whew... it has been a week.

Our rescue has been hit with several unexpected challenges, from our rescue van breaking down to one of the dogs in our care being bitten by a rattlesnake. The expenses have piled up quickly, and we need your help now more than ever.

💔 Yesterday, we stepped up and tagged Vergil with every intention of bringing him to safety and giving him the second chance he deserved.

This morning, we received confirmation that our tag had been accepted and were told we would be contacted when it was time for pickup.

Just hours later, we received the call no rescue ever wants to get.

Vergil had been euthanized the afternoon before due to a tragic shelter error. We were informed he had been placed in the wrong kennel, and because of that mistake, his life was taken before we ever had the chance to bring him home.

Our hearts are broken.

Vergil was seen. He was wanted. He had people advocating for him, preparing for him, and ready to welcome him into rescue. He should have had the opportunity to decompress, feel safe, and experience what love looks like outside shelter walls.

Instead, that opportunity was taken from him.

We share this not out of anger, but because Vergil mattered. His life mattered. And he deserved more time.

Run free, sweet Vergil. We are so sorry we couldn’t get to you in time. You will be remembered. 💔🐾

💦 Pool Donation Request 💦

Our rescue pups LOVE water days and enrichment time! 🐾 We’re hoping to collect about 10 plastic kiddie pools for enrichment and to help keep our long-haired dogs cool in their kennels.

Small pools are around $10 • Large pools around $20 — hard plastic works best for their paws and lasts longer than inflatables.

We also welcome gently used pool donations if you have one to spare 🫶🏽

Please message us if you’d like to help our pups stay cool this summer 🙏🏽🐾

For the people concerned- this tie out (chain) is a temporary fix due to some of our strong pups busting and getting loose while enjoying enrichment. We know chained dogs is not allowed and I promise Maggie has a safe kennel she loves and is safe in every night 🫶🏽
