Tuesday Musical Club

Tuesday Musical Club New members always welcome! The Tuesday Musical Club is dedicated to the promotion, study and performance of music as a fine art. Woodlawn Avenue.

Enjoy our bimonthly programs from Oct. to April as well as concerts featuring our TMC Young Artists & professional artists. All Artist Series concerts last from 90 minutes to two hours, with a short intermission, and occur on Tuesdays at 2pm at Laurel Heights United Methodist Church, 227 W. Handicapped seating is available; there is free parking in the church lot. Full season tickets (four tickets

) can be purchased for $75. Tickets can be used at ANY concert, in ANY combination, for maximum flexibility and season enjoyment. Students are free at all concerts with proper ID. Single tickets for each performance are $25 each and can be purchased on the TMC website or at the door, approximately half an hour before each concert. Seating is first come-first served. Violist Clara Qiyun Zhao joins Olmos for STRINGS ATTACHED on May 3!
Zhao is an award-winning soloist, chamber musician, and researcher whose career spans Europe, Asia, and the United States. A graduate of Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler and Universität der Künste Berlin, she is currently pursuing her doctorate at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and Media School. Zhao is a first-prize winner of the International Knopf Competition, France National Music Competition, and the Doublestop Foundation Competition, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Berliner Philharmonie, and Berlin Konzerthaus. She has served as principal violist of the Shanghai Philharmonic and China Philharmonic, and as associate principal of Germany’s Meiningen National Opera. A specialist in contemporary music, she has collaborated with Garth Knox, IRCAM Paris, and the Silkroad Project, and is the founder of the ARCO Project, The Voiceless Project Berlin, and The Future Simulator Productions. Her current research develops AI music technology at Indiana University’s Luddy School of Informatics, creating groundbreaking interdisciplinary performance works that integrate artificial intelligence as a collaborative musician.

This Saturday, March 7, the public is invited to hear some fabulous string players from Texas colleges competing for generous prizes. This event will be at the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall at Trinity University in San Antonio, in two parts. The semi-finals are from 10 AM to 12 noon, and continue from 1-2 PM. The second part, the finals, begin at 7 PM. TMC Co-Chairs, Dr. Mary Ann McAfee and Dr. Anna Armstrong, look forward to seeing you there!
