We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity that aids vulnerable populations and communities throughout Texas. Always reach across the divide to help ANYONE in need.

The Willie Ng Family Foundation is designed to provide diverse support to improve the lives and welfare of anyone in need. Our organization’s mission is to:

Partner with first responder programs that provide mental health support and other important resources to law enforcement and military communities. Aid cancer patients and the elderly or immunocompromised in need of assistance when bills associated with treatment become unaffordable. Ensure the continued quality education of students who do not have the means to pursue primary and/or secondary learning opportunities. Support animal rescues and hospitals that focus on stray intake and adoption.

Today is Lights On Afterschool, a national celebration of the programs that give young people safe places to learn, create, and connect after the school day ends.

Afterschool programs support students, working families, schools, and neighborhoods. Today, we recognize the educators, mentors, volunteers, and community partners who keep those opportunities available.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Screening can help find breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat.

For women ages 40 to 74 at average risk, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends a mammogram every two years. Personal risk and family history matter, so talk with your doctor about what is right for you.

If cost or insurance is a concern, the CDC's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program may provide free or low-cost screening.

Checking in can be simple: a phone call, a ride, a grocery pickup, or help finding the right local resource.

If an older neighbor, caregiver, or family is having a hard week, ask what would actually help. San Antonio's Department of Human Services offers senior nutrition, wellness, and resource programs. The City's Community Connections Hotline can also help residents navigate food, health care, housing, shelter, and other benefits.

San Antonio Animal Care Services says its Pet Pantry urgently needs donations, especially dry dog food, dry cat food, and litter. The pantry helps qualifying families keep their pets at home when household budgets are stretched.

If you can help, check the City's current wish list before donating. You can also share urgent-placement reports, foster, adopt, or ask a local rescue what it needs most this week.

Small, specific help can keep a pet with its family and make room for the next animal who needs care.

Strong neighborhoods grow when people have a chance to connect.

On Tuesday, October 6, the San Antonio Police Department will host San Antonio Neighbors Together. The annual event encourages residents, neighborhood groups, schools, faith-based organizations, and local businesses to strengthen community connections and build positive relationships with local law enforcement.

Activities vary by neighborhood and may include block parties, community meetings, cookouts, potlucks, or informal meet-and-greets.

Every gathering can begin with a simple conversation among neighbors.

Sometimes showing up looks like a big response. Sometimes it looks like one brushstroke, one meal, one ride or one practical problem solved at the right moment.

Community assistance has no fixed shape. It begins with paying attention and asking, “What would help right now?”

Extreme heat is still dangerous for animals, and San Antonio shelters and rescues need the community to make room.

You do not have to make a large donation to help. Sharing an urgent-placement report, fostering short-term, volunteering or donating the specific supplies a shelter requests can create space for the next animal who arrives. San Antonio Animal Care Services updates its urgent-placement reports throughout the day.

At home, bring pets indoors during the hottest hours. Fresh water and shade are not optional, and animals should never be left in a parked car.

San Antonio’s public-safety leadership entered a new chapter this month.

On September 10, City Council unanimously confirmed Jesse Salame as police chief. A San Antonio native and 27-year SAPD veteran, Chief Salame has spent his career serving the community that shaped him.

Willie and Chief Salame’s shared SAPD history makes this moment especially meaningful to the Ng family. We congratulate him and wish the men and women of SAPD every success in the work ahead.

Potential deserves more than encouragement. It deserves an open door.

Access to books, learning tools, technology and scholarships can change what a student sees as possible. So can one teacher, coach or mentor who refuses to let a young person count themselves out.

Some roads change the way you understand support.

Willie’s experience with Stage IV throat cancer made this mission personal. On the hardest days, help can be simple: a ride, a meal, a phone call or a quiet promise that someone will not face the next step alone.
