Sad to report that Mr. Dario Chapa, ex director of Our Casas Resident Council from 1995-2019, passed away June 21, 2024. He was an affordable housing pioneer and Community advocate in San Antonio for over half a century. He was a visionary who was able to acquire vacant lots in the southeast, south, and near westside of San Antonio to build affordable homes for first time homebuyers. I was one of the many that were mentored by Mr. Chapa. The services information is attached. Additionally, after the burial a luncheon and Celebration of Life will be held at the Mexican American unity council’s community hall at 2300 w commerce from noon to 3 pm.

Our Casas Resident Council, inc. closed on two affordable homes built in the near Westside of San Antonio. As a non profit, we leveraged funding from the City of San Antonio , the San Antonio Housing Trust, LISC of San Antonio , and The Bank of San Antonio to build the homes for lower income families to buy their first home at 2206 Chihuahua and 2406 Vera Cruz. The properties were provide at low cost by the San Antonio Affordable Housing program.
