Joseph Was Prosperous Because God Was With Him
After Joseph received God’s promise, his circumstances did not become easier. Instead, more trials came. His brothers hated and envied him, threw him into a pit, and sold him into Egypt. Later, because of Potiphar’s wife’s false accusation, Joseph was sent to prison.
But in God’s eyes, Joseph was already a governor, even when he was in the pit and even when he was in prison.
We also face many difficulties in our journey of life. When one problem is solved, another may come. Perhaps instead of praying for a life without problems, we should remember what is truly important: Are we in God’s will, and is God with us?
Joseph was not prosperous because his circumstances were good. He was prosperous because God was with him.
“The LORD was with Joseph… and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.”
Genesis 39:21–23
A blessed person is someone who, even in the middle of difficulty, can see their life through God’s promise rather than through their circumstances.
The pit could not change God’s promise.
The prison could not change God’s promise.
Our difficulties cannot change God’s promise either.
God is with us. Therefore, we are blessed and prosperous.
