--Recap/Notes from Steve J. on our Neighborhood Meeting - - -
I would like to thank everyone who attended our meeting and lunch. I think everyone enjoyed themselves, got plenty of BBQ and made some new friends. We hope more of you will be able to come next time.
Thanks also to our two guest speakers, Taylor Puente, from Councilman Palaez' office and Liane Proctor, from Endeavors. Unfortunately, the councilman was ill on Saturday and could not attend, sending his apologies and Taylor in his place.
Taylor updated us on the road construction at the subdivision entrance (to be completed by the end of June), the paving repairs made at Robins Nest & Bristlewood (in response to an email request from our Don Hardy-Holley) and the status of the traffic light construction at DeZavala and Bristlewood (now scheduled to start later this year due to design delays and material delivery issues).
Liane spoke about Endeavors' volunteer opportunities available for those with some extra time and a desire to help them with their mission. We asked her to see what could be done about overflow parking on both sides of Bristlewood during recent Endeavors functions. Some neighbors are concerned about safety and congestion.
I gave an update on our finances to the group. We have a balance of $5458.62 in the bank, as of this morning. That will cover our monthly expenses (electricity for Ridgehaven sign & bank fees) and provide us a small cushion, should something larger come up (like damage to our sign). Out of 122 residences, we had 83 contribute dues this year. That's about 68%, which is the highest that I've seen in a long time. We'd like to have everyone contribute next time we collect dues. At the last general meeting we decided to collect dues bi-annually (every other year), so the next collection will be in the fall of 2023.
Residents voiced a couple of general concerns about the neighborhood. Several noted that people are not stopping at the stop sign on Bristlewood, just blowing through it. Others approaching the intersection on Bowman Ridge stop, as though it is a 4 way stop. Please watch the stop sign and ask your visitors to take care, as well. We have had several folks ask about the city trash and recycling containers that are parked in front of the garage doors or in the yard next to the garage. It was noted that the look of the neighborhood would be greatly improved if they could be stored either in the garage, behind the gate to the back yard or behind a small screen or fence, until they need to go to the curb. And finally, we were asked to remind everyone to continue to pick-up after their pets.
