AS 2022 comes to an end, we are bidding farewell to a year that gifted us our lives back. After two years of lockdown, we all resumed normalcy and the fun in talking to each other face to face. I am so grateful for the opportunity to represent my beautiful city and gem, the San Antonio River Walk, as King of the Royal Court for 2020, 2021, and 2023.

As we progress into a new year, all we can wish for ourselves and our dear ones is good health, happiness and success.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who sponsored and has supported me, these past three years (as King) and for always visiting our gem and telling me how beautiful it really is. I’ve met so many locals and tourists from all over the world who all enjoy visiting our city and the River Walk. Thank you.

Life is short. Dream big and make the most of 2023!

Goal Achieved!!

My goal was to run today’s San Antonio Half Marathon under 3:00 and I finished it at 2:56, minutes just under.

My last half marathon was in 2019 and I must say, today’s run had some obstacles, like cold rain, to seeing people fall in front of me and get hurt, to my mind playing tricks on me.

All that went away when I would read texts from family and friends asking how I was doing during the run, seeing friends and real estate colleagues running next to me, or cheering me on from the sidelines (thank you SARW QUEEN), and especially when two of my dad’s favorite songs, played back to back. I know he was running with me.

I had fun and will there be another half marathon in the works for 2023, stay tuned.

Being the San Antonio River Walk King & Royalty for three years has been such a great honor, I’ve met so many people (local & visitors) that love visiting San Antonio and our beautiful ‘Gem,’ the River Walk.

As my reign is slowly coming to end (in a couple of months), I’d like to let everyone know that a special project that means alot to me, is in the works and to STAY TUNED for more to come.

I couldn’t have done and/or experience this without GOD (first), Mario, my family, friends, campaign crew, colleagues and sponsors, THANK YOU so much for all your continuous support.

I’m not gone yet and there’s still so many events happening at the River Walk, some are free and some do require ticket purchases, for more information, please visit: thesanantonioriverwalk.com

So join or come see us at some of the events!!

Look at this amazing photo of when Queen Elizabeth (may she RIP) took a boat tour down our beautiful gem, the San Antonio River Walk, while visiting San Antonio in May of 1991.

San Antonio, you showed up and showed out!

It was a wonderful day to celebrate Pride, Love and Equality in San Antonio yesterday!!

It was so good to be back marching and dancing as part of the Pride Parade with a MASSIVE turn out and seeing everyone’s smiles shine all throughout the night! Don’t ever let anyone take that away from you. Be who you are, own it and shine it.

I love you San Antonio and stand with you always!! Thank you Sandy, Maggie with the San Antonio River Walk Association, my 2020, 2021 & 2022 Royal Court, DJ Infu5e, my beautiful niece Mia, and last but not least, Mario for making all of last night possible. We couldn’t do all this without you!

In Honor of Pride Month…

I was invited to speak by the about my ‘Coming Out’ story and struggles & bullying I overcame with the support of my family, friends and partner.

I had the honor and privilege to speak after TWO LGBT San Antonio ICONS and , two individuals whom I highly respect and admire for all their advocacy and positive -doing they do in and around San Antonio.

I was also able to share the organizations I am involved in and future plans I have. It was great to be surrounded and network with amazing people who lift you up, lend you knowledge and help you learn from your and their mistakes.

Stay tuned for more fun events, Happy Pride!

2020 River Walk Royalty

David Cruz is originally from Del Rio, TX. Although he’s not a San Antonio Native, he now considers San Antonio his home. He has been in San Antonio since the age of 18 and attended Northwest Vista and University of the Incarnate Word.

Since his younger years, David was always surrounded by family in construction, especially his (late) father and Master Plumber, Hector Cruz. David always had Real Estate on the back of his mind and with a little encouragement from his family, David transitioned from a career in government and corporate travel (spanning almost 13 years) into Real Estate. He is now a full-time REALTOR®, Office Manager, and Director of Recruiting for Carter TX Realty. David is very involved in the San Antonio Real Estate Realm. He is a NAHREP (National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals) Director for Events, Vice-President of the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce, in the NAGLREP (National Association of Gay & Le***an Real Estate Professionals) Leadership Committee and a member of SABOR’s YPN Committee.

David’s hobbies include running 5K’s/Marathons, cycling, yoga as well as spending time with his family, friends, and traveling all over the world. If David isn’t with a client and/or traveling, you can find him volunteering his time with various Non-Profit Organizations, which include CASA, SAAF, Wounded Warrior Project SA and SAPD Blue Angels- just to name a few.

One of David’s lifetime mottos has been to reinvent himself from time to time without losing foundation. This leads him to share that he can remember his father’s words, “Take care of your character because it is what people will remember you by and your reputation is what people think of you.” He believes this to be a true analogy of what his father represented.
