We took time at each contract to celebrate, appreciate and recognize all the housekeepers and EVS Team who maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all of us each and every day throughout the country.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the passing of Gwendolyn Hughes and Richard “Ricky” Robinson.

Ricky has been with Helpful Hands since 2008. He worked in our Outlying Buildings. Ricky was very kind, adored his grandchildren and enjoyed going to the gym. He was well-respected and always a pleasure to be around. Ricky passed away on 3/14/23. Ricky’s service will be at Tahoma Cemetery on Thursday, 4/20/23 at 2PM.

Gwendolyn has been part of the Helpful Hands Family since October 2021, she worked in 2S/PICU. Gwendolyn was a great worker and always made those around her laugh. She was kind, well respected and she loved her family. She loved to sing and would often do so in the ATS. She is going to be greatly missed. Gwendolyn passed away on Friday morning, April 7, 2023. No information has been provided at this time regarding her service.

May they rest in peace, and may we lift their families in our thoughts and prayer at this difficult time.

Thank you for the feedback we received expressing a job well done by the Team!

"I just would like to commend the wonderful job housekeeping does in my particular area.

Every evening housekeeping arrives in my area promptly at approximately 1800. I have witnessed the crew emptying trash cans, wiping down surfaces, and dusting. To include, vacuuming and cleaning the restrooms. The crew is very friendly."

We love to receive feedback to take the chance to recognize our employees and the hard work that goes into their daily efforts to keep the hospital clean, and customers pleased!

⚠️ Store materials properly!

According to OSHA’s Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal Standard (1926.250), storage areas should not have an accumulation of materials that present hazards for tripping, fire, explosion or pests.

Keep areas uncluttered and tend to them daily to prevent injury and hazards. ⚠️

On Tuesday, February 28 at 8 p.m. Eastern, FEMA will host a webinar for potential applicants to the Youth Preparedness Council.

Webinar Save-the-Date

FEMA seeks to recruit young leaders with a passion for preparedness to join the Youth Preparedness Council (YPC). The YPC offers opportunity for teens to share their ideas and feedback with FEMA, grow their leadership skills, and work with like-minded peers to help strengthen preparedness and resilience across the country. Members will also participate in a summit in Washington, D.C. with FEMA leaders and other professionals to network and learn more about the field of emergency management.
During the webinar on February 28, participants will learn more about the YPC application process and hear from three current YPC members about their experiences on the council. The webinar will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask any questions they may have.
