LSA48 launched it's Health and Wellness day entitled “Sweat Equity”. The day featured discussions from experts in mental and physical health.

Their day began at the Morgan's Wonderland, where they gained insight into the impact of various forms of health challenges and frustrations in the community and how we can make a positive impact. They also had the pleasure of participating in musical wellness with a drum circle led by Grammy award winning percussionist, Nina Rodriguez. From there, they headed to San Antonio’s Fire Department Training Center where they heard from Chief Rey Garza on ways to respond during emergency situations. Then they were welcomed for lunch at Rosario's Mexican Restaurant, greeted by Mariachi Las Altenas.

After lunch, they headed to University Health's Womens and Children's hospital where healthcare experts discussed current challenges in healthcare management and ways to improve. Wrapping up the day, they headed back to Morgan's Wonderland and participated in an Olympic themed competition with special guests including USAF Band of the West & San Antonio Spurs Coyote.

Leadership San Antonio Class 48: Civic Engagement Day!

We started our day with a delicious breakfast from La Familia Cortez at the Texas Public Radio Building. Our class then had the incredible opportunity to listen into the first-ever Texas Public Radio and Leadership SA Podcast panel with David Martin Davies!

A huge thank you to our inspiring panelists: former Secretary of State Hope Andrade, former Texas State Senator Leticia Van de Putte, SAA CAM CEO Deborah Omowale Jarmon, and contemporary artist Cruz Ortiz. They shared their journeys of civic engagement and how it has shaped their impactful careers.

Leadership San Antonio (LSA) is a partnership program between the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce with the goal of educating and motivating business leaders to become involved in the Chambers’ Councils and Committees, to be an advocate for the business community, and spark a volunteer spirit in our local community, boards, and programs.
