Elder Geigenmiller Report, Week #34: The Return of the Bed Bugs!

Interestingly enough as the title states, the bed bugs returned! As happy as I made that sound it absolutely sucks! We had to clear out the whole house in a day and put the house into a closet. Sounds crazy I know, but that's exactly what happened.

All of our possessions and household items are stored into 2 closets right now while they get fumigated for the next 2 weeks. We didn't realize it would be this long, since it was 3 days last time, so we aren't in the least bit prepared. I currently have 3 pairs of clothes that I have out and that I have to cycle through everyday. Every time we leave we have to strip down and change clothes. put the other ones in the dryer because the heat kills any bugs or eggs. Anyway, living out of trash bags is tough. all of our food and cleaning supplies, literally everything is bagged up on the floor and gets sprayed. It’s kind of chaotic around here, but oh well, we are getting through it. Sorry for complaining, we will get on with the rest of the week.

Even though we got this terrible news on Tuesday we were still able to find people to teach. not for us of course, for everyone else in the zone. I feel like that's how it is in the YSA. There aren’t not very many young people who live in Bradenton, so we just find whoever and send then off to where they need to be at. It’s fun! On our way back from district council Elder Mannos and I decided to bike about an hour back home and we talked with the 3 people that we saw. We taught all of them and referred all of them. Huge miracle! So that's how we've been finding literally just biking, teaching, and testifying. plain and simple. The Lord didn't make these things hard, we just tend to over complicate them.

We’ve also been street contacting like mad. That’s all we're able to do. not able to go inside buildings, including the church, people's house and such. It’s great, never thought I'd miss church on my mission, but that's twice now. At least we hopped on ZOOM to watch other wards. anyway, back to the subject matter. We’ve just been using the Riverwalk everyday to find, especially yesterday. Yesterday was the longest day of my mission thus far. We skipped lunch and dinner due to fasting, so we street contacted for 2 extra hours. We taught a few lessons while doing so. It was just a long, hot drawn out day. And, to top it off, I got another flat tire! So, we got saved by our zone leaders who picked us up. Needless to say through all of this, I'm still having a blast. The Lord keeps putting challenges it front of us and we just try to see Him through thick and thin. He doesn't give us anything we can't handle. I truly do have a testimony of Philippians 4:13, kind of basic, but it's true. As we keep pressing along, striving to do our best, the Lord helps us and strengthens us through our trial and error. I have much love for all of you ❤. And wish you the best this week. God is Good, God is Great! and the gospel is true!

Aunt Irene Myers gave me this photo Tuesday night. It’s from cousin Janet’s wedding in July 1981. My 10-year-old self is seated on the right next to cousin Darren Thompson, who is next to his Grandpa John Geigenmiller, my Grandpa Ernest’s brother. Across the table is my Aunt Mildred Geigenmiller.

Please help me identify the others.

One of most powerful moments of my trip to San Antonio last week was the tour given by my cousin Paul Barrera, Jr. He showed me the Berg's Mill Veteran's Memorial Bridge, which honors the men and women (from the area) who have served the US Armed Forces.

I counted ELEVEN Geigenmiller names and many Barrera, Graf, and other family members on that plaque. I'm impressed and honored to be part of such a patriotic family. THANK YOU!
