Join today to maximize your participation in San Antonio's international community! The World Affairs Council of San Antonio is a not-for-profit, non-partisan, citizen’s educational forum focusing on issues related to foreign policy that have a direct effect on our lives. It is entirely local in governing and support, and services all individuals and organizations interested in its goals. We are a member of the World Affairs Councils of America, which is composed of almost 100 councils in over 40 states and the District of Columbia. The national network of councils shares a commitment to broad-based, non-partisan education and the principle of open membership. Our goal is to inform and educate our community, starting with youth, about the importance of international affairs, culture, politics, language and government. We achieve our goal by organizing in-person, digital and social media programming.

Congrats!

Congratulations to 10th grader Isa, who won the Grand Prize at the 2026 San Antonio Sister Cities Youth Summit! The summit brought together high school students from Japan, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, France, and Mexico for three days of cross-cultural exchange and a team-based innovation competition. Isa teamed up with students from Taiwan and Japan to pitch a project addressing San Antonio's growing energy demand — and their team came out on top. Way to go, Isa!

Last Thursday, the World Affairs Council and the Carver Community Cultural Center, Little Carver hosted “Standing in Our Truth: Voices of Race, Identity & Resilience” a powerful conversation inspired by Julie Beth’s memoir, Standing in My Truth.
This special panel brought together voices speaking candidly about race, identity, and belonging within multiracial families, creating space for healing, understanding, and genuine community connection.
Thank you to The Carver Community Cultural Center for making this happen and thank you to our panel, Julie Beth, Lisa Marie, Dr. Charles Gentry, Dr. Tunette Powell, Brandy Russel, and junior member JJ for an outstanding discussion. An additional thank you to Major Gina Ortiz Jones and her team for attending, as well as Chef JJ for catering the event.
Thank you to our guests, for making this event. This is the kind of dialogue that strengthens our community, and we’re proud to help create space for it.
