“The San Antonio Botanical Garden was grateful to host three interns from R3 Generations — Perwiz Noor, Ehsan Adil, and Ali Kazimi — for three weeks. During their time with us, they made a strong and lasting impact across several important areas of the Garden.
They helped w**d and reset greenhouse spaces, giving those areas a fresh start and improving day-to-day growing conditions. They also assisted in preparing a site for a new shade structure by moving plants and clearing the area so the welder could set the posts. Outside the greenhouse, they planted a new garden bed that will become a display area for visitors attending plant sales in the back of house.
Their work with the TREES initiative was especially meaningful. They potted hundreds of bald cypress and sycamore trees that will be used for fall restoration efforts. They also worked alongside volunteer groups supporting the initiative, and they showed real initiative by stepping into leadership roles with one-time volunteers, helping guide the work and keep the process moving efficiently.
In addition, Perwiz, Ehsan, and Ali helped relocate our oak collection, which includes more than 125 different species and over 1,200 trees total, to its new location in the Garden so the collection can continue its growing journey.
Over the course of just three weeks, these interns proved to be extremely helpful, dependable, and well liked by staff across the Garden. Their teamwork, positive attitude, and willingness to take on both routine and high-impact projects made a noticeable difference. They will be missed, and we are thankful for the time, energy, and care they contributed to the Garden.”
