This World Animal Day, we’re celebrating the endangered species that helped inspire the creation of the Edwards Aquifer Authority 30 years ago, including the iconic Texas blind salamander, a remarkable creature found nowhere else in the world.

Their story reminds us that protecting the Edwards Aquifer means protecting an entire ecosystem, from its unique wildlife and spring-fed habitats to the clean, reliable water millions of South Central Texans depend on every day.

Did you know native plants are naturally suited to our Texas environment? This October, bring a little piece of Texas home during the EAA’s Rooted in Texas FREE Drive-Thru Plant Pick-Up!
Each person will receive 2 FREE Texas native plants: one sun plant and one shade plant (while supplies last).

Turn your next field trip into a hands-on learning experience at the EOC! Through interactive exhibits and educational programs, students can explore groundwater, local ecosystems, and the science behind the Edwards Aquifer.

💧 Did you know the Edwards Aquifer has different stages when water levels get low?

Right now, the San Antonio Pool is in Stage 3. That means certain permitted groundwater users must reduce how much water they pump from the aquifer by 35%.

Why? 💦 When aquifer levels drop, using water wisely helps protect this important resource for our communities and the plants and animals that depend on it.
