What an incredible day for our community as we honor more than 20,000 men and women from our area who served during WWII. Projects like Heroes on the Concho do not happen because of one person or one organization. They happen because a community chooses to come together. The San Angelo Area Foundation is proud to be part of this project and work alongside those who believe that honor should be visible, remembrance should be permanent and gratitude should be passed on for generations. Our hope is when people walk along the Concho River they will not only encounter a beautiful memorial, but a sacred reminder of courage, sacrifice, and service. Communities in the southern region of the Concho Valley have experienced catastrophic damages due to rising water from last weeks rain and help is needed to stand in the gap for our neighbors in need. The Concho Valley Together team is in Sonora, Texas today (7/21/26) to assist those impacted with assistance in completing intake and istat forms. City Hall located at 201 E. Main. Sonora, Texas.

The Disaster Relief Fund for Southern Concho Valley will support immediate relief and long-term recovery in communities in the San Angelo Area Foundation's service area impacted by the recent flooding in Sutton, Crockett, Schleicher, Kimble and Menard Counties.

Just one year ago, San Angelo and the surrounding area experienced damages to homes and businesses after more than 14 inches of rain caused widespread flooding. Over the past year, we have witnessed our community come together and stand in the gap for neighbors who needed help after the devastating July 4th flood that significantly damaged homes across the Concho Valley. Because of the unwavering generosity of donors, the dedication of community partners, the selflessness of volunteers and compassion of countless neighbors, hope has risen above the floodwaters. Today we remember those difficult days, honor the resilience of our neighbors and recognize the extraordinary spirit that defines the Concho Valley. This collective effort has made immediate relief possible, strengthened long-term recovery, and continues not only rebuilding - but restoring hope for the place we are blessed to call home. SAAF continues to walk alongside neighbors in need and our team remains committed to ensuring no one faces this crisis alone.

We have truly celebrated today with an incredible FUNDRAISING FIESTA!!!!
