🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from PaulAnn Recovery! 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to say thank you to every person who works hard, serves faithfully, provides for their family, cares for others, and gives of themselves each and every day. Whether your work is seen by many or happens quietly behind the scenes, your labor matters, and so do you.

For those in recovery, we know that some of the hardest work happens within. Choosing sobriety. Choosing healing. Choosing to get back up when life knocks you down. Choosing hope when the road feels long.

That work matters, too. ❤️

God sees every step, every struggle, every sacrifice, and every victory.

📖 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

Today, may we remember that our worth isn't measured by a job title, a paycheck, or how much we accomplish. Our worth comes from being created and deeply loved by God.

🙏 A Labor Day Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the gift of work, for the strength to keep going, and for the people who faithfully serve others. Bless every worker, every family, and every person walking the road of recovery. For those who are tired, give them strength. For those who are discouraged, give them hope. For those who are struggling, remind them that they are never alone. Give us hearts willing to serve, hands willing to help, and the courage to keep moving forward one day at a time.

May our labor honor You, may our lives reflect Your love, and may we never forget that You are with us through every step of the journey.

In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏

Happy Labor Day from all of us at PaulAnn Recovery!
Thank you for all you do. Keep going. Keep believing. Keep choosing hope. ❤️

🎉 BIG NEWS FROM PAULANN RECOVERY! 🎉

We are excited to officially announce the launch of PaulAnn Recovery and our new curriculum Re:generation from Watermark Church 🙌

Re:generation is a Christ-centered, Bible-based discipleship program designed to help people experience freedom from the hurts, habits, and hang-ups that keep them from living the life God intended. This is a new season for PaulAnn Recovery, and we are incredibly excited to see what God is going to do! We believe God is still transforming lives, restoring relationships, breaking chains, and bringing hope to those who feel stuck.

Pick a Place and Start

Our daughter and her family live in another state. Her husband is going to school, and she has her hands full with three active toddlers underfoot. So when we arrived for a visit, we found the sink full of dishes. We helped our daughter put the kids down for a nap and then suggested she catch one also. While they were resting, we tackled some of the chores.

As I stood in front of the sink, I thought, Wow, this is going to take forever, but it won’t get done unless I get started. I surveyed the mess closely and chose a big pot that was taking up a lot of room. I washed it, dried it, and put it away. When I got back to the sink, things looked more manageable. I took care of another item, and then another, and before I realized it, the sink was empty and the kitchen was clean.

Starting our relationship with Jesus is a lot like that, especially for those of us in recovery. Our lives are such a mess that we often feel overwhelmed. But with the help of God and our sponsors, we pick the most glaring problem and tackle that first. Then we move on to the next and the next. As long as we remain diligent, relief is certain.

Prayer

Father, thank you for helping me work through my problems one at a time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Breaking the Silence

I just don’t see how sitting around talking about my problems without anyone saying anything back is going to help.” That’s what one of the frustrated members of our step group said last week. I completely understood what he meant. One of the things that seems strange about Celebrate Recovery at first is that we don’t offer advice or what we call “cross talk,” that is, feedback on the sharing that happens in group. We’re used to people responding and giving advice, but soon we realize that there are two very important things going on: We are breaking the silence first by sharing, then by relating to others through listening.

Breaking the silence is so important, because the things we can’t talk about own us. When we share openly, the power of those secrets over our lives is broken. Because no one can reply, we don’t have to worry about being corrected or judged. We get to express what is in our hearts without fear.

As we listen without speaking, we realize how many things we all have in common. We are able to relate to people we might have shied away from before. We begin to see how God is working in other lives, giving us hope that he can work in ours as well. We are not alone.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the wisdom that allows me to open up and gain strength from others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
