A pet is for life, not just for Christmas, and that includes cats too. Cats may be quieter companions, but they also require long term care and commitment. They grow, age, and depend on us throughout their lives. They are not holiday novelties or short term responsibilities. When the holidays pass, they still need patience, stability, and love. Choosing a cat means choosing them for life.

This morning I commented on a post where a lady was in search of a free kitten. 🙅🏼‍♀️ I let her know she should be looking for a VETTED kitten, because it's is cheaper 💸 in the long run. We went back and forth a few times with her obviously offended by my "telling her what to do". 😕 I respectfully explained the reasons it is cheaper to pay an adoption fee up front (which includes spay/neuter, medical things, microchips, etc.) instead of having to pay for all of that herself since she thought my first explanation was "BS". I also explained that I will take every opportunity to educate the public about the benefits of spay and neuter! Always. She went on to say that we should "normalize not telling other people what to do on the internet". 🙃

Let's normalize spay and neuter instead!! I hope that you'll be an advocate, too, even if it doesn't appear that others are listening. Someone could have seen that post and understood what I was saying. 🤞🏼 We are their only voice.
