π Meet Our Staff! π
We are pleased to announce that Omar Cordova will be joining our staff as our Brass Caption Head for 2024!
Omar A. Cordova is new to San Angelo as the assistant band director at Lincoln Middle School. He also assists with the Lake View High School band program. Prior to teaching in San Angelo, he had taught at Fort Stockton Middle School for 3 years, working as the assistant band director for one year and as the head director the next two years. Under his direction, the band received superior and excellent ratings at UIL and numerous awards at other contests.
Originally from El Paso, Texas, he earned both his Masterβs of Music in Conducting and his Bachelorβs of Music in Music Education at UTEP. During his time at UTEP, Omar performed with numerous ensembles, assisted with the Marching Miners and the UTEP Pep Band, and conducted the Concert Band. He is currently performing with the San Angelo Community Band and has performed with the Paso Del Norte Big Band, the Gilbert & Sullivan Company of El Paso Summer Orchestra, and local church groups. He also worked with several high school marching bands in the El Paso region.
Omar Cordova marched with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps (based in Tempe, AZ) from 2013 to 2015. During his time with The Academy, he performed in many locations around the United States, including the Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, AZ. In his third and final year, he served as the trumpet section leader and was awarded the Most Outstanding Brass Member Award.
Omar Cordova is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Association of Texas Small School Bands.
