San Angelo Kiwanis Club The San Angelo Kiwanis club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Golden Corral. Today, we are one of more than 8,000 clubs in more than 80 countries.

The San Angelo Kiwanis Club was chartered on January 6, 1921, just six years after the very first Kiwanis Club was formed in Detroit, Michigan. The mission of Kiwanis is "Serving the Children of the World". Over the past 100 years, the San Angelo Kiwanis Club has conducted many service projects in the community that have benefited countless children in the Concho Valley. Kiwanis clubs began as ser

vice organizations open only to men, but finally, in 1987, after years of controversy, Kiwanis International voted to invite women to join, both to boost membership numbers and support national efforts to stop discrimination of anyone because of their race, gender, or disability. Over 3,000 women joined Kiwanis clubs in the first 6 months. Since this time, many women have served in all capacities of the club and have been responsible for numerous ideas and projects to support our mission. The San Angelo Kiwanis Club is takes great pride in our signature project, the Little Olympics. This annual project engages hundreds of elementary children every year in a field day at San Angelo Stadium. The San Angelo Kiwanis Club has sponsored this cherished event since 1942 with assistance and support from San Angelo ISD and community volunteers from local school campuses, Angelo State University, and Goodfellow Air Force Base. We are committed to preserving and advancing this treasured tradition for generations to come. In January 2017, the San Angelo Kiwanis Club was approved for a historical marker from the Texas Historical Commission to acknowledge our sponsorship of the Little Olympics. The marker is located at the main entrance to San Angelo Stadium.
