Good morning all. I've had numerous calls and emails and wanted to just try to address all of them.

1st - WE ARE SUSPENDING ALL OPERATIONS THROUGH AT LEAST 1 MARCH 2024. This has not been an easy decision. At that time we will revisit things and make an announcement of our future plans.

2nd - ALL OPERATIONS ARE SUSPENDED. This is to include evaluating any K9's for possible entry into the program in the future, any and all training activities we have discussed with anyone.

3rd - We do NOT tell anyone to use our name when calling other orgs / rescues about a possible K9 they are trying to get them to take. IF we are going to recommend you to an org / rescue, I will take all your info and pass along personally. So please do NOT call another rescue and use our name saying we told you to reach out. At this point, I'm not even doing referrals or discussing your K9 as we have suspended our operations.

4th - We are being asked why we have suspended operations. This is because our Director Chris is undergoing some serious issues with cancer right now and has to focus on his health. He also has his father with cancer and tries to travel to see him on the east coast when he isn't undergoing medical treatment here in TX. I hold this org and the purpose of helping our Vet's and first responders very near and dear to my heart. This hasn't been an easy decision but a decision we had to make while we undergo treatment and see what the future outcome is.

Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding during this time. Hope to see everyone in the future.

IT'S WITH DEEP REGRET WE ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE SUSPENDING OUR OPERATIONS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

CURRENTLY CHRIS IS UNDERGOING SOME SERIOUS MEDICAL AND WE HOPE THAT IT WILL ONLY BE TEMPORARY BUT WILL RE-EVALUATE THINGS 1 MARCH TO DECIDE IF WE WILL CONTINUE OPERATIONS OR SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD. THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING DURING THIS TIME!

The last few weeks I've had several inquires regarding individuals who would like to surrender their German Shepherd because of aggressiveness and / or biting someone. Unfortunately we cannot take those German Shepherds in. Our program is designed to pair German Shepherds with military Veterans and first responders for service dogs, therapy dogs, and / or companion dogs. In order to be a service dog or therapy dog that can go out in public, the dog cannot have any type of aggression issues or they may not qualify as a service dog or therapy dog. If the dog has bit anyone then it can never be trained to perform those roles. After discussing the legalities with lawyers, we were advised of the risk of financial liability if the dog with aggression issues or has bitten someone would bite someone that has come from us and the risk is to high and we will never put a dog with a Veteran or first responder that has either issue. That dog would have to be maintained by the org taking up space for a potential dog for the next Veteran and first responder, not to mention to keep this dog during it's remaining life span. We are funded to place German Shepherds with our Veterans and first responders and try to keep only quality candidates. If you would like to forward the info in an email to us and we will share with true rescue orgs then we will be glad to but will not be a part of the process of placing the dog. Your info with the dogs info would be shared and the interested party is responsible for contacting you to ask questions and / or adopt the dog.

Good morning everyone! After a loss of technology because AT&T tower was down, we are back online and trying to get caught up.

Touch a truck yesterday in San Angelo was a total success! Absolutely enjoyed getting to meet everyone and talk about the org.

Lately I’m getting bombarded with emails and messages wanting to surrender aggressive German Shepherds to us. We have taken in a few in the past and reality is we can’t shoulder this risk. Between the legal side of someone getting bit to the danger it puts our volunteers in is just to dangerous for us.

What I will do is help spread the word if it’s not a major aggression issue and I think it can be modified within reason. As a non-profit having a aggression disorder in a GS keeps us from adopting them out and in turn this takes up valuable space within our system not to mention the cost of food and medical that is still required.

If you reach out with one with any type of aggression issue and I think it can be modified and share it on our social media and website, we do not take responsibility for any actions of the dog and it remains the responsibility of you and the adopting person. We will not do the background checks but share a pic and your contact info.

Sorry for having to take this stance but it is a nightmare waiting to happen and as a non profit, we just can’t shoulder this responsibility.

Happy Sunday everyone!!!! We’ve been busy at BAGSRR. Currently we have 3 in line looking for their respective homes. If you know of a Vet, someone serving in the military or a first responder who may be interested in a German Shepherd, please have them reach out and contact me!!!!! It doesn’t matter if they are in TX or any other state. Spread the word and help me help a deserving Vet, service member, or first responder!!!!

As March is well underway, we still need those Veterans, current military and first responders who’d like to have a companion K9 reach out. If you need a service dog also rach out! We have several pups in the program now.
