The 2021 Tom Green County Jr. Livestock Show was dedicated in memory of Lonnie Kellermeier. Below is the dedication read during the premium auction last night:
Lonnie Kellermeier was a man of many dreams. Lonnie was born in 1964 in San Angelo and walked the path the Lord set out for him for 55 years. He lived a life filled with agriculture whom his parents, Clarence and Marjorie first introduced to him. They taught him the value of hard work and taking ownership in himself. They instilled the character of caring for God’s land and his animals, which he did well.
Lonnie’s dreams began at a young age farming the land with his father. He showed livestock during his junior high and high school years. He accepted God’s calling and God made him a farmer. He tended to his crops and did not shy away from anything new. He harvested cotton, wheat, maize, corn, grass, sunflowers, squash, and zucchini. Lonnie became a leader in the agriculture world through participating in each chapter. He was an active member in FFA and 4-H. Lonnie played a huge part in forming the Wall Ag Boosters and served as their President. As a board member of the Mereta COOP, he took pride in helping to merge the Mereta and Miles COOP to form the Lonestar Farmers COOP. He is a national board member of Calcot and local board member of NRCS.
Lonnie married his beloved wife Melissa, whom they shared each other’s blessing for 30 years. They raised 4 children and Lonnies passion for agriculture continued through them. He spent 16 years traveling to each stock show where he passed on the traits he learned at a young age to his children. His passion for farming grew onto his two sons who are carrying on his legacy today.
Lonnie’s family continues to grow and he was blessed to be a part of his four kids marriages. His children are Karli and husband Tevin Powers, Koy and wife Hannah Kellermeier, Korby and wife Madi Kellermeier, and Kriss and husband Lane Oliver. Lonnie’s grandchildren include Kynli, Khyli, and Sophia, 1 girl who he is waiting to meet, and many years to come for more children to be raised with the same values that Lonnie held in his heart.
Lonnie was a man who was larger than life. He had a Texas heart, loud laughter, loyalty, compassion for those around him, and friends from one end of the country to the other. He walked in the footsteps of the Lord and now is at peace with his Maker.
