Milo’s Misfits Reptile Rescue was started in 2010 by Brandon Milo, a local Calaveras native and devoted reptile handler with more than 25 years of experience. When he isn’t working for his local Dignity Health hospital, Brandon comes home to care for more than 30 reptiles ranging from iguanas and snakes, to tortoises, turtles, Dragons and beyond. ke sure all homeless reptiles have a place to go to receive basic needed care until they can find their forever homes. Recognizing that many reptiles are commonly viewed as misfits - often due to misrepresentation in Hollywood - Brandon set out to make sure that no abused or neglected or homeless reptile went without despite some of the common misconceptions made about them due to a lack of public understanding or awareness. There are four beloved canine residents who help to keep watch over the larger tortoises in the outside habitat at the rescue, and a cat who makes all the rules also lurks on the premises. Milo’s Misfits makes every effort to take on as many rescue cases as possible but just like any rescue effort - space is limited. This operation is funded on donations, which often run short; leading Brandon to provide much of the care from his own pocket.
