A great water polo coach, author, and key friend in my publishing life gets a fitting honor. Monte's memory gets a wonderful tribute at Long Beach City College. He was a coach's coach to many, even from a distance.

He was a devoted Olympian and man of sport in the highest order.

Great weather in Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, New York this week. For those cities its baseball and soon to hit Milwaukee too. But in Pittsburgh, the ball players use the good weather for golf and coaching changes in the dugout.
More NCAA swim teams should use the fall for open water swimming events.
