I have been live trapping brown Squirrel's that feed off a couple bird feeders in my yard. I don't blame them...the eating is very good. The problem is they make a mess and often knock them down and render them useless for their purpose.
This is squirrel #10, trapped and not happy about it but unharmed and soon to be transported to a site away from here but...we have a problem. She has 8 developed and used mammary glands that are apparently well used.
I released her and she was grateful...believe you me she expressed a "piece of her opinion" on the situation but I don't think "Thank you" was included. That's OK...I understand.
I have to come up with another plan as soon as this litter of squirrels grow up.
Details latter...

I've had a hugh Squirrel problem in my back yard for some time. My wife wants to feed the entire wild bird population within 5 sq miles but Squirrel's attempt feeding with a technique that results in.....well let's say "nothing good". Enter the small animal trap I purchased recently.
The wild Squirrel population is now diminished by 7 Squirrel's!...amazing.
What do I do with them you asked? I re-introduce them to another area well away from Highland Park, so no...my past problem is not now your new problem.
This small Brown squirrel photographed here accounts for 5 of my "clients" of that species and the larger Gray Squirrel just 2. I think I have at least 2 more to trap...but we will see. I do check for pronounced mammary glands that would suggest a active litter but none have been observed. That's a good thing.

If you also have a similar problem and want to help yourself and the native Squirrel population you are welcome to contact me for details. Gotta admit...kinda fun and kinda rewarding too. In other words..."No dead Squirrel's resulted in the proceedings and application of this project". That's another good thing.

Another couple of chapters off the book reading on the patio and Mr
Wood Pe**er visits to fill up on feed. He's "twitchy" but focused on his seed supply, not on me.
I have another visitor showing up and I'll share that soon.
