We’re happy to report that the trail came through Hurricane Isaias with only minimal damage.

Even better, the storm left the preserve with full, roaring waters, and the falls are putting on quite a show.

Thank you for your patience, and we can’t wait to welcome you back.

Pearson’s Falls & Glen will be closed Saturday, October 10, due to Hurricane Isaias.

With heavy rain and high winds on the way, the glen won’t be safe for visitors, and we’d rather you not make the drive in these conditions.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone, and the Glen, safe. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

UPCOMING PROGRAM!

Carrie Blair didn’t always notice plants.

Then, in the early 1990s, a friend took her to a hillside covered in blooming trillium and spring wildflowers, and everything changed.

She realized the natural world held far more beauty, complexity and diversity than she’d ever imagined.

That moment of curiosity grew into a lifelong study. Over the decades since, Carrie has walked countless miles of forest and meadow: taking notes, comparing field guides, learning from seasoned botanists, and deepening her knowledge through botanical societies, courses and travel around the world.

Now she’s sharing what she’s learned.

Join Carrie for a guided tree walk at Pearson’s Falls this October, just as the Glen’s trees turn to fall color.

Learn to read bark, leaves and branching like a naturalist, and maybe start noticing a few things you’ve never seen before.

- Tuesday, October 13 & Tuesday, October 27- 9-11am- at Pearson’s Falls, Saluda NC- $25

Two years ago this last weekend, Hurricane Helene swept through and changed everything.

The trails we loved were buried.

The Glen we treasured was
silenced.

And the road back felt impossibly long.

But Andy Ruff never left.

Our Operations Director stayed when the storm passed, rolled up his sleeves, and got to work.

He and his team painstakingly cleared debris by hand, rebuilt the Glen trail by trail, designed the C**t Creek Bridge and the Kirby Education Pavilion from scratch, and poured countless unseen hours into a place he clearly loves as much as we do.

Some months ago, we had the honor of presenting Andy with the inaugural Guardian of the Glen Award.

Because that is exactly what he is.

Andy, there are no words big enough for what you’ve given this place, and the people who love it. We are endlessly grateful.

Two years later, the Glen is home. And it’s home because of you.

What a beautiful way to begin… our first yoga class in the new Kirby Education Pavilion was every bit as restorative as we hoped it would be.

Grounded breathing, gentle movement, and the perfect setting to slow down and reconnect.

A huge thank you to Rhea for leading such a calming and beautifully guided session. Her energy set the tone for what we hope will be many more classes to come in this special space.

Mark your calendars, Rhea will be leading a meditation walk to the falls on October 20th at noon. A wonderful chance to bring that same sense of stillness outdoors.
