🏫 Saltville Fire Department visited Saltville Elementary School to further the NFPA “Charge Into Fire Safety” Fire Prevention Program. We had a blast engaging with students of all ages and educating them on fire safety topics such as stop, drop, and roll, safe charging for lithium-ion batteries (commonly found in today’s electronic devices), home escape plans, and more!

🚒 🚑 Students explored Engine 4 and ambulances provided by Smyth County Fire/Rescue and Tannersville Rescue Squad and even had an opportunity to open a hydrant and flow water! 💦

Saltville Fire Department visited McCready Head Start for a morning full of learning. We covered fire prevention and safety topics, let students explore a variety of fire trucks and ambulances, and sent home useful information regarding NFPA “Charge Into Fire Safety” for their families!

🚒 October 4th-10, 2026 is National Fire Prevention Week. This years topic is “Charge into Safety” focusing on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

➡️ As we go into this week, here is a little flashback to 2026 SVFD Kids Fire Camps! We had over 130 children attend and learn about fire safety and prevention, fire extinguisher operations, home escape and safety plans, smoke detectors, among other safety topics such as CPR, first aid, car seat safety, police topics/emergencies, and more! We have such a blast at our camps each year and encourage you to join us again in June/July 2027 (Dates TBD).

Christmas is less than 100 days away!🎄Last year, SVFD started a tradition with some help from our friend Santa. We delivered toys to the Saltville Community in our Squad with Santa in tow! 🎁

We will be continuing that tradition this upcoming Christmas. Help us support this cause by purchasing donuts! ⬇️

Please join us in prayer for one of our own that has recently left for deployment. Prior to his departure, we had a gathering celebrating him and the friendship he has shared with all of us here at Station 4. An American Flag will hang over his gear locker while we await his return home. We are thankful for Firefighter Doane’s commitment to serve our country but we are sure going to miss him while he is gone! 🇺🇸
