Space Bus 149 - 3rd chapter
As the students worked on their travel pods Miss Barb and Miss Wendy
Gathered supplies for the trip.They were headed to aTorrid Climate Zone, which is close tothe Equator,the hottest area of Earth. The students had watched ancient videos on something called Youtube to learn how to build shelters,what clothing to wear and what they might encounter.
“Well class , let’s finish packing, said Miss Barb today we are leaving for
a desert which in 5022 is call the Sahara,Africa.
We’ve all finished changing our pods to solar power,right? asked Miss Wendy.
“Yes Miss Wendy said Lan, we will have lots of energy from Earth’s Sun in the Torrid Zone.
“That’s right, we are traveling to a desert,which is hot and dry.” agreed Miss Barb. We will be looking for an oasis when we get there,to set up camp”
“What’s an oasis?” asked Vict.
“Below the sand in the Sahara is a huge aquifer, or underground water source.Sometimes it bubbles to the top and creates a small lake or “oasis”.
And what do you think happens then?” said Miss Wendy.
“Plants can grow. Dray replied.
“And bees will come. added Jada. Merry
“Camels can get a drink.” said Char.
“Not just camels, said Miss Barb we should be able to see lots of animals.
“Like snakes? asked Enz. “I’ve never seen a snake!”
“ I want to see a mirage! And what is a mirage?asked Adal.
“Enough questions for now,we need to get going. said Miss Barb We
will be traveling to a different time zones too! It’s take off time!

So everyone takes off, heading east across the green temperate forests,then the coastal lowlands,and finally they start across the ocean.
“How do like flying over this beautiful ocean?” asked Miss Wendy.
“ There is nothing like this on my planet.said Mak, We don’t have much water, I really like it!
“ The ocean is so big! exclaimed Els It’s all I can see!”
“Well water covers about 70% of the Earth and most of it is salt water,like the ocean we are flying over now. said Miss Barb But we should be seeing land soon.”
“Until we do I am going to enjoy this beautiful blue. I can’t wait till we can explore an ocean. said Miss Wendy
“Me too, it sparkles as much as Dray’s Planet Sparkle! And it’s getting warmer now,don’t you think? Asked Addi.
“That’s because we are getting closer to the equator. Look there’s land ahead, welcome to the deserts of Africa.

It didn’t take long to see just how big the desert was too. Eli spotted an oasis. Everyone helped setting up camp. Miss Barb made sure everything was safe, and made sure there the travel pods were facing eastern sky.
“I don’t know about you,said Saw,but I am hungry. Can we eat soon?
“Yes,said Miss Barb, then we need to rest and get use to this heat.Most things in the desert happen at night. That’s why we packed the night goooles.”
