Big dreams deserve a big stage. 🎤✨

The International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City is now accepting applications for the 2026 New American Dream Lab, a live pitch competition for refugee and immigrant entrepreneurs ready to grow their businesses.

Selected entrepreneurs will receive pitch coaching, business support, workshops to strengthen their presentation, and the chance to win:
$4,000 Grand Prize
$2,000 Second Prize
$1,000 Third Prize
$500 Audience Favorite

📅 Applications are due October 12th!

The final pitch event will take place Thursday, November 12th from 6:00–7:30 PM at Foundry43 in Salt Lake City.

If you know an immigrant or refugee entrepreneur with a business idea or growth plan, send this their way. This is a great opportunity to build confidence, sharpen a pitch, and compete for funding to move a business forward.

A little appreciation for our amazing Board Chair Caryl Eriksson! 💛

Caryl joined Giovanni and Sara at the Utah Nonprofits Association Conference for a full day of learning, connecting, and bringing new ideas back to the Utah Microloan Fund. We’re incredibly lucky to have a Board Chair who is so engaged in our work and willing to spend the day learning right alongside our team.

Caryl is also the Executive Director of InterMountain Business Lending, a longtime supporter and partner of UMLF. We’re especially grateful to InterMountain Business Lending for their annual contribution and continued investment in the work we do for Utah’s small business owners.

Thank you, Caryl, for your leadership, your time, and everything you bring to UMLF. We’re so glad you’re in our corner!

Three towns, three days, and a whole lot of Southern Utah small business energy.

We had such a good time traveling to Beaver, Panguitch, and Cedar City for another year of the Southern Utah Small Business Solutions workshops. These events are always one of our favorite excuses to get out of Salt Lake, meet business owners where they are, catch up with our rural partners, and talk about the resources available to help Utah entrepreneurs grow.

And honestly, it’s hard to complain about a work trip with views like these.

Thanks to everyone who came out, asked questions, shared what you’re working on, and made us feel so welcome. ☀️

But in all seriousness our team had a great time at the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament and even though they didn’t place anywhere near the top 5 (awkward), they had fun and still represented a proud South Salt Lake organization. Go team! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️
