Alive at 25

Alive at 25 Alive at 25 is the most important 4 hours of a young driver's life. All courses are taught exclusively by off-duty law enforcement officers.

Alive at 25 is a young driver intervention program developed by the National Safety Council specifically for drivers between 15 and 24 years of age. It is a course that bridges the gap between what teens learn in Driver Education and what behaviors and skills they need to become responsible, crash-free drivers. Alive at 25 is a live four hour course that teaches young drivers how to take control o

f situations by understanding the consequences of their actions. This course uses several teaching tools including: interactive media segments, workbook exercises, class discussion and role play. Instructors hold candid conversations with students about what can happen if they practice risky behavior or make other poor decisions in an automobile. Alive at 25 was implemented in Utah in 2007 and is currently offered in various high schools and courts throughout the state. Alive at 25 has been approved by the Utah Driver License Division and qualifies for a 50 point reduction on a Utah driver license.

Remember that it is never okay to drink and drive. Even if you’ve had only one alcoholic beverage, designate a sober driver or plan to use public transportation or a ride service to get home safely.

Celebrate with a Plan
Always remember to plan ahead if you will be celebrating. If you plan to drink, plan ahead for a sober driver to take you home. Is it your turn to be the designated driver? Take that role seriously and do not consume alcohol, not even one drink.

Distracted Drivers and Pedestrians
*Keep an eye out for distracted pedestrians and drivers who may not be paying attention to you, especially when backing out of parking spaces. Shopping center parking lots are busier during the holidays.
*Remind your teen driver to be extra alert during this holiday season, when conditions are more challenging even for experienced drivers.
*Make sure you are not distracted while driving. Commit to keeping your phone down. No text message or play list is worth the risk.
