October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in 2 Saturdays from now is our K.A.V.A. Talks 11th Annual Heels 2 Heal 1 Mile Walk for Domestic Violence Awareness Month! We've updated the start time to 11:00am so be sure to join us at the International Peace Gardens for this important event where we educate and raise funds to support our programming that benefits survivors of Domestic Violence. Our organization is one of the many facing funding cuts and every single penny counts towards helping those most in need!

You can register to participate in the walk now at givebutter.com/H2HSLC2025. Donations are welcome and greatly appreciated but not required to participate, simply enter in a zero ($0.00) dollar amount when registering. Sign up to walk by yourself or come as a family, group of friends, or even your coworkers! We also welcome pets! Everyone can get involved to show support with survivors of violence. Come get education, resources, and connected to those who have your best interests at heart! We'll be providing ribbon leis for all our registered participants so be sure to sign up ASAP!

We also still have our vendor sign-up open as well so if you'd like to table as a business or organization visit tinyurl.com/H2HSLC2025. We love to see the variety of businesses and community organizations at these events so please get signed up! There is no fee involved to table.

Remember, the color for the month is purple so come decked out in your purple clothing and accessories for a good cause! For additional questions, info, and ADA reasonable accommodations contact Lulu Latu-Wolfgramm at (801) 633-6299 or [email protected].

It is with profound sadness that Pacific Island Knowledge 2 Action Resources shares the passing of our beloved friend, colleague, and PIK2AR Board Member, David Silos. David was a longtime supporter of our work to bridge gaps within Utah’s under-served and marginalized communities, specifically using his skillset and expertise to aid the growth and success of the Pacific Island Chamber of Commerce, working closely with our staff and volunteers since our early days.

He shared our love of community and taking action when it came to that love. He found resources, made connections, and always operated with the belief that we are stronger together. David’s love for his Mexican heritage and Latino community was as bold and unapologetic as he was. Many may be familiar with David’s work as the Artistic Director for Ballet Folklorico ECK Juvenil who graced the stage at many events centered around unity and celebrating our cultural differences.

It is impossible to overstate how important David was to us and we will miss him sorely. We send our continued love to David’s immediate family, especially his dear wife and children who he leaves behind. Thank you, David, for all of your hard work and the light that you brought into so many lives. May those memories grant those in mourning a soft place to land in these hard times.

As we draw close to our 10th Anniversary as an organization, we want to hear from you! Our beloved community. We'd love if you would share your stories with us about PIK2AR and your favorite memories with us and our programs.

Have you been part of a past Pasifika Enriching Arts Of Utah exhibit? Did you participate in a Pacific Island Chamber of Commerce program? Have you attended a film from our Utah Pacific Island Film Series? Maybe you met someone from our Empowered Living Services who helped provide social services? No memory is too big or too small. We'll share them on social media and also compile your stories to share during our 10th Anniversary Gala next Friday.

You can drop them in our comments, make a post or story with and tag us, message us directly, or even send them to our email [email protected].

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you. Each time we administer a service or connect with someone in the community we strive to better than the interaction before it and we appreciate your continued patience and trust as we continue to grow into the community organization that we want to be. Here's to 10 Years with PIK2AR!

(Time correction: 6pm - 9pm) We are looking forward to hosting Pacific Island Knowledge 2 Action Resources 10th Anniversary Gala next Friday, September 12th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Aoki Event Garden. A decade we have been honored and humbled to serve our community.

While PIK2AR was born from a need for culturally relevant resources and services for our growing community of Pacific Islanders, we know that our reach has surpassed our intended audience and we couldn't be more grateful to have been a source of aid, relief, and comfort for many other individuals and homes in our state of Utah.

Join our staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors for an evening of joy and celebration as we recognize the efforts of all those who helped make PIK2AR what it is today. We are lucky to have seen so many faces pass through our organization and know that each and every person has contributed to our success in their own way. We'll have dinner, performances, special awards, and testimonials from those who've seen our work up close. Don't forget the dress code! Come to our Gala dressed to impress!

We hope you can make it! We have tickets available for purchase at www.tinyurl.com/pik2ardecade! General questions or concerns contact [email protected]. For sponsorship opportunities contact [email protected]

Happy Kick-Off Day! We hope to see all of you with your friends, family, and even furry little pets at our 13th Annual Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month Kick-Off in honor of recognizing August as Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month. We celebrate our Pacific Islander community, our unique histories, and varied but connected cultures that have traveled from the Pacific and now call Utah home.

Join us from 5:00pm - 10:00pm at West High School’s Field House and South Lawn for a delightful evening with live music, dancing, food, drinks, crafts, education, demonstrations, and of course our signature backpack giveaway where we will give youth who complete our Cultural Passports a free backpack filled with school supplies for the upcoming school season.

Come browse our vendors, find a new business to support or a local organization to get involved with! We’ve got resources of all kinds, a blood drive, and so much more!
