Mail ballots are already being sent to voters across Salt Lake County ahead of the June 23rd primary election, and election officials are warning residents about a key change in how those ballots must be returned.

A new Utah law is changing the rules for mail-in ballots, and officials said it makes timing more important than ever for voters who plan to participate.

“So the old rule was that it had to be postmarked the day before election day. That has changed. The new law requires it to be in the clerk’s custody by 8 p.m. on election night,” County Clerk Lannie Chapman said.

Ballots dropped today....

Primary elections serve as a crucial gateway to the general election, often determining the candidates who will represent working families for the next two years in House races and four years in Senate races in Utah.

This 2026 primary vote presents a significant opportunity to influence important races. Your vote can have a decisive impact on local and state issues affecting Utah’s working families. Exercising your right to vote empowers YOU to express your views on matters that impact your job and, most importantly, your rights as a citizen. It ensures that elected officials reflect the values and needs of working families.

Every vote matters; participation in this election is essential for shaping the future of middle-class citizens. We can no longer remain passive. We must show up at the polls and make a difference.

Caucus meetings are tonight, please plan on attending your neighborhood caucus meeting and get involved. There are some amazing candidates running and they need our support.

Registration time is at 6:00pm and to save some time you can pre-register, that way you can spend more time getting to know the candidates running and chatting with your neighbors about your interest in wanting to be a delegate or supporting one of their bids to be a delegate.

Don’t forget your photo ID and double check what precinct you reside in.

Need to check where yours is at ?
Republicans & Democrats both have Caucus Meetings tonight March 17th, and the Forward Party will have a virtual meeting.
