wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our volunteers. They are the often-unheralded cornerstone of any great film festival.

From the judging panel, running AV, helping with production-related tasks, checking tickets, welcoming guests, supporting filmmakers, MC’ing screenings, solving last-minute problems, designing and 3D printing our award medals, and keeping the whole thing moving, our volunteer team is a huge part of what makes possible.

As we continue to grow, we’re building out a volunteer database for future quarterly events, community gatherings, and our flagship festival weekend.

We’re looking for people who are excited about film, storytelling, the outdoors, and creative community. People who are interested in getting into the film industry. People who want to learn, contribute, meet other like-minded, good-hearted humans, and help build something meaningful in Salt Lake City.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

This year’s was a step forward for us.

After taking a year away to realign our collective vision, we came back with a clearer goal: to create a unique, world-class festival experience while providing genuine value for filmmakers, partners, and our audience.
At its core, WMFF exists to celebrate storytelling in the outdoors and the people behind it. Filmmakers, photographers, athletes, artists, musicians, brands, local businesses, volunteers, MCs, and community members all coming together around films that move us, challenge us, and remind us why these stories matter.

Our goal is simple: to create a thoughtful, creative, and genuinely memorable festival experience here in Salt Lake City. An experience that serves local and visiting filmmakers alike, brings people together, and continues to grow alongside the outdoor and creative community that makes this place so special.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported us, volunteered, MC’d, screened their incredible films, bought a ticket, brought a friend, or helped create the kind of energy and momentum that has us already looking ahead to next year.

And to our brand and venue partners — including and — thank you for helping us bring this experience to life in a way that felt grounded, collaborative, and true to what WMFF is becoming.

We’re grateful. We’re inspired. And we’re just getting started.

Film, community, conversation, and a beautiful collaboration.

A huge thank you to for helping us bring this year’s festival experience to life.

Our partnership with helped bring the festival off the screen and into the community. The morning opened with an engaging conversation with , .seanblack, , and about branded and commercial filmmaking in the outdoor world.

From there, we moved into the retail space for our adventure film block, while skate and bouldering activations brought even more energy to the day outside.

We’re grateful for partners who understand what we’re working to create with : a thoughtful, memorable festival experience built around film, community, creativity, and the outdoor culture that connects it all.

Thank you, .

Some of our favorite evenings don’t make it to the screen — they happen around the table.

The filmmaker dinner was everything we hoped it would be: 150 filmmakers, storytellers, and collaborators sharing a meal, trading ideas, and doing the slow, wandering kind of conversation that doesn’t happen anywhere else.

This is why we built the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival. Not just to show great work — but to make space for the people behind it to actually connect.

Thank you to everyone who came, stayed late, and made it feel like home.🏔️

This year, is incredibly excited to share a robust lineup of films that reflects the depth and intention behind both the filmmakers who created the work and the judges who helped shape the selection process.

Our judges came in looking beyond technical ability and beautiful imagery alone (although we love us some beautiful images) searching for films that took risks, offered new perspectives, and invited a deeper connection to the people and stories onscreen.

What they found was a wide breadth of stories, experiences, styles, and points of view.

Hear from our 2026 judging panel on what they found in this year’s submissions — and why audiences are in good hands.

This year, we wanted to be clear with our judges about the vision behind the festival.

As WMFF continues to evolve, our goal is to seek out and showcase films that cut through the noise—offering a deeper sense of story, craft, perspective, and meaning.

This year’s 2026 judging panel was composed of seven hand-selected Salt Lake City-based filmmakers and storytellers—each bringing their own creative lens, experience, and point of view to the selection process.

As we continue to evolve Wasatch Mountain Film Festival, we’re placing strong intention behind how films are reviewed, discussed, and ultimately selected.

By engaging trusted filmmakers within the Salt Lake City creative community, our goal is to program films that create space for thoughtful conversation, diverse perspectives, and a shared love for depth, craft, originality, and heart.

We’re incredibly grateful to this year’s judges for the depth, care, and intention they brought to the process!
