Our star of the month is Star!

After a year in the field, Star has discovered she loves her 30 coworkers just as much as the countless people she meets on the street. Her fellow Ambassadors voted her Ambassador of the Month for the empathy and patience she brings to her work with unsheltered individuals. In her words: "Everyone deserves respect. We all want that."

Congratulations, Star — and thank you for making downtown a more welcoming place for everyone who lives, works, and visits.

The street is the canvas this Saturday! The Chalk Art Festival returns to The Gateway Sept. 5 — and it's FREE.

Watch 22 artists turn pavement into masterpieces from 10am–6pm. Kids get in on it too: the Kids Corner has outlines to color in (or outside of — we don't judge 😄), free chalk to play with, and art teachers sharing tips and tricks.
