We’ve all heard the news of the bird flu outbreak spreading across the USA. Luckily, there are things you can do to prevent getting sick like cooking poultry and eggs until fully solidified to 165˚F, separating raw foods from cooked foods to prevent cross-contamination, and choosing to eat pasteurized products that are less likely to be contaminated.

Recent progress in healthcare access: In March of 2023, Gov. Spencer Cox signed a law allowing nurse practitioners to provide much of the same care as doctors—right from their own practices. Two years later, these practices are now open to the public across Utah. This change helps expand access to quality healthcare while keeping costs lower for patients.

📅 Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day—an annual reminder that human trafficking is a growing issue, even in our own state. Awareness and action are key to protecting our communities and combating this crisis.

Today, UHC highlights the incredible work of Short Creek Dream Center, a Southern Utah non-profit providing residential support for trafficking victims and anyone in need of crisis intervention. With 40 beds available, they offer a safe space and community resources to help individuals rebuild their lives.
