Congratulations to Utah's own Jason Contreras on earning 2nd Place in Post-Secondary Masonry at the SkillsUSA National Championships in Atlanta!

The SkillsUSA National Masonry Competition brings together the best masonry students from across the country, challenging competitors to complete a complex brick-and-block project while demonstrating precision, craftsmanship, safety knowledge, blueprint reading, and time management under strict industry standards.

Competing against the nation's top talent, Jason's achievement is a testament to his hard work, skill, and dedication to the masonry trade.

Please join us in congratulating Jason on representing Utah and the masonry industry with excellence on the national stage!

Today, we honor the courageous men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a reminder to reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedoms and to recognize the strength, resilience, and unity that continue to shape our communities.

From the team at Utah Masonry Council, we extend our gratitude to our veterans, military families, and those we remember today.

Wishing you a safe and reflective Memorial Day.

At the Utah Masonry Council, leadership doesn’t just sit at the table—it shows up on the jobsite.

Over two days of career and outreach:

UMC connected directly with students, introducing them to opportunities in the masonry industry and what a future in the trades can look like.

Led by Board Member Jed Heath, and supported by an incredible group of volunteers including the CSJ Inc. team, instructor Deric Yoakam, UMC apprentices, and Board Member Adam Hicken.

And here’s what makes this one different—

Seeing board members like Jed and Adam working side by side, getting their hands dirty, and engaging directly with students is what real leadership looks like.

This is how we build the next generation.
This is how we strengthen the industry.
