We hope you enjoyed the September meeting. Next up is a topic that many of us have an acute interest in given the experiences we had over the last summer. October 2021's topic will be on the impact of wildfire on air quality in western US urban centers. The presenter will be Kai Wilmot, a graduate student at the University of Utah.

Is it September already? Are the leaves starting to show a hint of change?

That means it's time to start the Utah AMS/NWA chapter 2021-2022 season! This year we *hope* to eventually transition to at least a few in-person meetings, but through the fall they will remain virtual.

Join us on September 23 to reminisce about the most interesting and impactful weather stories of 2021 (so far) and meet the new officers. We'll go over our plans for the year as well.

Happy Meteorological Spring everyone!

Our March virtual meeting will be centered on a topic many of us may be wondering about. How will climate change impact the North American Monsoon? Dr. Jon Meyer of the Utah Climate Center will be presenting at 7 PM on March 23. RSVP by March 22, 2021 to [email protected] to receive an invite.

It's the time to announce our February meeting! This month, we will have a talk from Julie Cunningham, a University of Utah grad student regarding her lake effect snow research. It should be a really interesting talk! Join us on February 22 at 7 PM!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Our December 2020 virtual meeting will be a fantastic one as we have tapped Greg Carbin, the Forecast Operations Branch Chief at the Weather Prediction Center to give his annual weather summary talk. Greg is well known for this talk and we are excited he will be presenting this to our chapter!

Happy Friday!

The second virtual meeting of the 2020-2021 season is November 4 at 7 PM. Our talk this month will focus on the 2020 Fire Weather Season. Nanette Hosenfeld, a meteorologist with the Great Basin Coordination Center will share some of her observations as a meteorologist who supported the large wildfires in the Pacific Northwest.
