This third and final video for Overdose Awareness Month is for those at the heart of International Overdose Awareness Day: the people we have lost.

They were children, parents, siblings, partners, friends, coworkers, neighbors. They were loved. They mattered. And they are deeply missed.

On August 31, we remember them. We say their names. We honor the lives they lived, not just the way they died.

And we carry their memory forward in the work we do every day to prevent another family, another friend, another community from experiencing this loss.

💜Overdose Awareness Month Free Virtual Naloxone Training

In honor of Overdose Awareness Month, join Utah Naloxone for a free virtual naloxone training on Tuesday, August 18, from 12:00–1:00 PM.

In just one hour, you'll learn how to recognize an opioid overdose, administer naloxone, provide rescue breaths, and respond until emergency help arrives. No medical background is needed.

Participants will receive free injectable naloxone rescue kits, and all registration information is completely confidential. Spanish interpretation will be available.
Every person trained is another person prepared to save a life.

💜 Overdose Awareness Month continues

Today we’re sharing the second of three PSAs from Utah Naloxone this August.
Overdose awareness is about more than knowing the statistics. It’s about recognizing that behind every number is a person—a family member, friend, neighbor, coworker, or someone we may never have met whose life still has value.
We can reduce stigma. We can carry naloxone. We can learn how to respond. And we can choose compassion over judgment.

Please join us August 31 at 6 PM at the Utah State Capitol for International Overdose Awareness Day as we remember those we’ve lost, honor those still with us, and stand together for a future with fewer lives lost to overdose.

That's how many free doses of naloxone Utah Naloxone has distributed across our state. But this milestone isn't really about a number. It's about the people carrying those doses.

It's about parents, friends, neighbors, coworkers, people who use drugs, and everyday Utahns who chose to be prepared to save a life.
Because of this community, we've also received reports of nearly 15,000 overdose reversals, thousands of opportunities for recovery, healing, and hope.

This wasn't built by a government mandate or a single funding source. It was built by thousands of acts of compassion from people who believe every life is worth saving.

Thank you to everyone who carries naloxone, has attended a training, shared a kit, supported our mission, or stepped forward to help someone in need.

Utah Naloxone, the nonprofit founded in 2015 aimed at preventing opioid overdose deaths, is celebrating surpassing the half a million threshold of naloxone doses distributed in the Beehive State.

August is Overdose Awareness Month

Every overdose death leaves behind family, friends, coworkers, and entire communities forever changed. This month, we remember those we have lost, honor those who survived, and recommit ourselves to preventing future tragedies.

Overdose can affect anyone. It does not discriminate by age, background, or circumstance. That is why education, compassion, and access to naloxone matter.

Throughout August, Utah Naloxone will be sharing stories, education, and resources to help reduce stigma, increase awareness, and empower more people to respond in an overdose emergency.

We believe every life has value. Every person deserves the chance to recover. And every one of us can be part of the solution.
