Let’s talk thistles! Did you know Utah is home to several types of thistle, both native and non-native? Here at the Garden, we have the native Wavyleaf thistle, as well as two species of non-native thistles that we remove and control. Neal’s here to help you spot the differences and teach you how to remove them.

Remember, you don’t want to remove native thistles! They’re great for bees and other pollinators, and don’t outcompete other native plants 🐝

Over the winter, we shared a video all about bird dots and our efforts to reduce the number of bird collisions with our windows 🐦 As a part of that project, we had local artist Alison Spencer create paintings of some of the beloved birds of the Garden. Learn more about her beautiful paintings, and see them for yourself in the Orangerie hallway near the restrooms.
