Granite Credit Union Foundation and Marissa's Books are partnering to provide adults in Utah with free books leading up to Governor Cox's Statewide Read-a-Thon on October 2nd.

September 25th-27th: Adults can go to Marissa's Bookstore and pick out 4 free books.

September 25-October 2nd: Adults can go to any Granite Credit Union branch and pick out 1 free book.

October 2nd: Kids can go to any Granite Credit Union branch and receive a free financial literacy book along with a cookie (adults can get a cookie too!) while supplies last.

Many wonderful things happened during summer speech and language groups at RiteCare this summer!

One four-year-old was not verbalizing any sounds when he started attending a language development group. He lined up animal figures on the table, one of his favorite activities. The Speech-Language Pathologist leading the class repeated the words "on" and "off" over and over as the figures fell off the table. The therapist instructed the parent to continue saying "on" and "off" at home. The boy's dad continued the activity.

When the boy came to the next therapy session, he walked right in and, recognizing a place to verbalize, started saying, "Ahh," right away. That day he said his first word, a milestone of communication. He learned to say other sounds and put them together to say another word. His communication skills increased by leaps and bounds.

All parents want their children to have friends, but they may not know what skills their child needs in order to make friends. Research tells us that children with stronger early language skills tend to have better social skills as they grow older. But until now, researchers haven't understood why.
