I would like to remind everyone of the practice rides coming up Saturday night June the 6th at 8:00 p.m. and Friday June 12th at 8:00 p.m.. We will meet at the Faust turn off and highway 73 approximately 5 miles west of Fairfield. Meet at the parking lot where the signs are just off the highway. Team 1 and team 2 will have some night runs so this is an opportunity to see how your horse reacts to another horse running up to them, having two people they don't know, coming to them to throw the mochila on to the saddle, the rider jumping on and away we go. A vehicle following them in the dark with lights on and a strobe light, being passed by vehicles with a trailer usually some banging noises and just a lot of activity going on! This is also very important for New Riders and horses to know what to expect, answer questions etc. please try to make it to at least one of these practice rides. If you have any questions please call your Trail Captain or myself, Patsy, 801-694-1383.

What an amazing turnout and support we had yesterday evening at the Swearing Inn dinner, thank you to all of our members that helped put this on and it was great to see everybody, we had such a great turnout that it kind of got hectic at times so we would like to apologize and ask if any of our new members have any questions that they please contact us here or their trail captains with any questions.
We had some great giveaway and sale items, special thank you to our supporters and members that contributed, good food, and a few fun games for the kids that I think turned out amazing.

All riders and drivers drivers need to download the XP Navigator app and get familiar with it prior to the ride, this is new for some of us but hopefully it will make things much easier going forward regarding ride assignments and where everyone is supposed to be, to eliminate some confusion.

I'd say he'd make a great Pony Express horse too!

Nobody talks about him. Nobody knows his name. But without him, one of the most breathtaking scenes in Australian cinema history simply would not exist.

His name was Denny — a buckskin bred for the mountains, owned by legendary cattleman Charlie Lovick — and if you've ever watched The Man from Snowy River (1982) with your jaw on the floor, you have this horse to thank.

That scene. You know the one. The brumby chase. The moment where the rider plunges headlong down a slope so steep it looks like the earth itself gave up trying to be flat. Most people assumed it was camera tricks, clever angles, or some kind of cinematic illusion. It wasn't. What you were watching was real — raw, unscripted, breathtaking real — and Denny did it not once, but multiple times.

Here's what makes that even more extraordinary: Denny carried not just actor Tom Burlinson down that mountain, but the stuntmen too. This horse didn't blink. He didn't hesitate. He committed completely to what was being asked of him, on terrain that would have made most horses — and most humans — refuse.

Think about the nerve that takes. Think about the trust. Think about what it means for an animal to willingly charge down one of the most perilous descents ever captured on film, over and over again, while cameras rolled and the world watched without ever knowing his name.

Every great film has its unsung hero. For The Man from Snowy River, that hero wasn't a director, a stunt coordinator, or even the lead actor. It was a buckskin horse from the high country, with a heart bigger than the mountain he conquered.

Next time you watch that descent, look a little closer. Because now you know — the real star of that scene had four legs, a quiet courage, and a name the credits never showed you.

Share this so Denny finally gets the recognition he deserved.

We are having our all member Swearing in Dinner next Saturday May 30th, at Camp Floyd State Park, 69 West Main, in Fairfield Utah. This is free for members and their family: AND mandatory for the Riders. This originally was a pony express home station and is rich in history, you will want to come and check it out! Besides, the food will be fantastic! there's a potluck provided by Team 3 (if you want to contribute a side dish or dessert that would be welcome), and your Utah Division. There will be a silent auction, door prizes, etc. also the Riders will be taking the Oath as they did in 1860 which is a requirement before the Re-ride! The dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. on May 30th, you will want to come and join us! Patsy Lange, NPEA Utah State president. See ya up the Trail!
