Help us get refugee youth in the game! ⚽️

We’re collecting new or gently used soccer cleats in good condition for refugee teams. Larger sizes are especially needed! Please make sure donated cleats are cleaned, laces are tied together, and dryer sheets are placed inside.

📍 Donating cleats? We’ll be collecting cleats at the UYSA State Cup tournaments over the next couple of weeks! Look for black collection bins at tournament headquarters at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC). All donated cleats will be sent to Utah Refugee Connection to help refugee youth get the equipment they need to play!

Don’t have cleats to donate? You can also support refugee youth by donating directly to our Sports Equipment Fund through the link in our bio or linked below for Facebook users.

Utah Refugee Connection has lost a dear friend and advocate.

For more than a decade, Pamela Atkinson was a champion for refugees in Utah. Among her many humanitarian commitments, she made time to serve on our board and help guide our work. Her strength, wisdom, and goodness helped shape the organization we are today.

In a tender conversation a few months ago, Pamela reminded our executive director, Amy Dott Harmer, to seek out people whose hearts are drawn toward refugees and find meaningful ways to involve them in helping refugee families feel safe, seen, and supported. Her counsel continues to guide us.

Pamela also played a critical role in launching our child and maternal health program. She insisted that we provide car seats for refugee families—and that every car seat come with training and education to help parents use it safely. Because of her vision and direction, hundreds of families receive this support each year.

Pamela was one of a kind. We will miss her deeply and carry her goodness forward in the work she helped build.
