🍁 A moment in the Secret Garden during last Saturday’s Gothic Literature Stroll, organized by The Historical Hostesses. Since that day, the gloomy weather here has continued unabated, providing the perfect setting to continue our appreciation of the Gothic genre. ⛈️😍

🍁 We thoroughly enjoyed The Historical Hostesses Gothic Literature Garden Stroll this afternoon. Though the inclement weather may not have been ideally suited to a stroll, it matched perfectly the tenor of this season’s theme. ⛈️

❄️ We also enjoyed a presentation on Gothic Literature essentials from our very own Edith Cushing (of Crimson Peak fame). Nicely done, everyone!

🌳 Detail of the Admiral’s French fowling piece, which he so generously lent his Flag Lieutenant for use during our recent outdoor excursion. Of course, the Admiral used a fowling piece of English origin. Both were of excellent design & manufacture, & well-suited to our day’s objective.

🌳 At the Admiral’s gracious invitation, we undertook a wild fowl hunt on his family’s lands. Consistently outwitted by our bird-brained quarry, we made the best of our situation by enjoying the splendid autumn morning. The combined beauty of the fragrant foliage & the colourful countryside made the day memorable — a welcome break from our seemingly unrelenting sea duty.

🌲 We spent the better part of yesterday in the magnificent Wasatch backcountry for a late-Georgian-era themed, ‘gentlemen’s fowl hunt’ photo shoot. The region’s seasonal color shift provided a lovely backdrop to our bucolic capers. 🦆 No birds - or any other lifeforms - were harmed during our pastoral adventures. 😇 More photos to follow shortly…

🌹 We spent a lovely afternoon last Saturday with friends from Jane Austen Society of North America: Utah Region, attending The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater’s lovely production of Pride & Prejudice.
