Chase Home Museum
March 13, 2026 | 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
S Constitution Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84105 [located in the middle of Liberty Park]
Join Utah Teaching Artist Lapita Frewin at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts for a hands-on workshop that connects material cultures to contemporary art practices with Native American sandpainting. Lapita brings her extensive knowledge as an accomplished community teaching artist to this unique educational opportunity. Together, we will examine material culture in a hands-on workshop and make connections between traditional and contemporary adaptations of this specialized folk practice.
Come prepared to learn-by-doing and work to connect natural materials and cultural concepts. Walk away with new ideas and connections to contemporary Indigenous perspectives and ways to bring unique educational enrichment to your own museum spaces. After we finish at the museum, continue to network with your colleagues at an optional pay-your-own-way dinner at Vessel Kitchen (905 E 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84105).
