The Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition gives exceptional young opera singers the opportunity to be heard—and to take the next step toward a professional career.
The Utah District is one of 39 districts across 11 regions that make up this extraordinary national competition. From here, talented singers can advance through regional and national rounds, with the ultimate opportunity to compete on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Some of opera’s greatest voices got their start in these auditions, including Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Stephanie Blythe, Eric Owens, Jamie Barton, Lisette Oropesa, and Nadine Sierra.
