In honor of National Pit Bull Awareness Month, Salt Lake County Animal Services is offering FREE spay and neuter surgeries for qualifying bully breeds October 26–29!

Here’s how to qualify:
🐶 Your dog must be a bully breed.
📍 You must be a Salt Lake County resident.

Our dog kennels were built in 1991. ❤️ That’s over 35 years of wear, and they were designed for a completely different era of animal welfare.

Today, Salt Lake County Animal Services is the largest no-kill municipal shelter in the state of Utah. Our animals deserve spaces that reflect the care we provide, and we’re working toward a $257,000 goal to rebuild our adoption kennels.

We’re already at $145,000, but with less than a month until the Furever Gala with a Purrpose, we need your help to get across the finish line!

A new chapter for two very special brothers. ❤️

Grizzly and Charlie are 10-year-old yellow Lab brothers who recently left Salt Lake County Animal Services for a new adventure in Colorado. ✈️🐾

Thanks to Safe Harbor Lab Rescue and a local pilot who helped make their journey possible, these boys got to stay together and are now settling into a foster home.

We couldn’t be happier to see Grizzly and Charlie starting this next chapter side by side. 🐾❤️

These three handsome boys are looking for their next home! Rob and Karl are fluffy Silkie roosters, while Cluck Noriss is our handsome brown rooster with plenty of personality.

And the best part? Their adoption fee is just $5 each! ❤️

Before bringing one home, PLEASE CHECK YOUR LOCAL CHICKEN PERMIT REQUIREMENTS. 📝 Different cities and neighborhoods have different rules about keeping roosters, so make sure you’re permitted to have one where you live.

The new film starring Brad Pitt follows a Special Forces officer and his combat dog, Odin, as they fight to survive together in the Alaskan wilderness. At its heart, it’s a story about the incredible bond between a person and their dog.

And we’re bringing a little of that movie magic to Salt Lake County Animal Services!

This Saturday from 12-3pm, the marketing team behind Heart of the Beast will be at our shelter, helping sponsor some of the dogs still waiting for their own second chance, including Sparta. ❤️

Come meet Sparta and the many other dogs looking for their people, then mark your calendar for September 25 and see Heart of the Beast in theaters!
