32 adoptions in one day. 🐾

Thank you to everyone who came out today, opened their hearts, and gave a shelter pet a forever home. Because of you, 32 animals are sleeping in homes tonight instead of kennels.

A huge thank you also goes to our staff, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make every adoption possible. From caring for animals and meeting with adopters to processing paperwork and answering questions, today took a team effort.

Seeing 32 pets leave for new beginnings is what it’s all about. Thank you for making it happen. ❤️

How did we miss this major cuteness?!

A couple of months ago Jim, a Navy veteran, sailed into Salt Lake County Animal Services with his wife. They were in search of a little bundle of four-legged joy.

Lili — previously named Azelea — got the nod, and swapped photo opps on the shelter sofa for one of her own in her new home.

🎉 Community Support in Action! 🐾

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make these recent community events a success for the animals at Salt Lake County Animal Services.

On June 13, our friends at HandleBar hosted a fundraiser that raised an incredible $1,785 for the animals in our care! Guests had the chance to meet some of our adoptable dogs, and five of our amazing HAT volunteers joined us to help showcase these wonderful pups. The event also featured an auction that helped make an even bigger impact.

We also want to give a huge thank you to Clean Cut Barber Shop for raising $350 to support shelter improvements. Community partnerships like these help us continue providing the best possible care for the thousands of animals who come through our doors each year.

Together, these events raised $2,135 for the animals and programs at Salt Lake County Animal Services.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, bid in the auction, and supported these efforts. Your generosity truly makes a difference. ❤️🐾

June is Dog Bite Awareness Month! 🐾

This morning, Officer Deacon, Void, and Ashley, our Communications & Development Coordinator, had the opportunity to meet with local USPS mail carriers to share tips and best practices for preventing dog bites.

Mail carriers interact with dogs every day, making education and awareness key to keeping both people and pets safe. Thank you to our USPS partners for taking the time to learn how we can work together to reduce dog bite incidents in our community.

Remember: responsible pet ownership, proper training, and secure containment can make all the difference. Let’s keep everyone safe this Dog Bite Awareness Month! 🐶📬

Do you have a hard plastic cat carrier collecting dust in your garage, basement, or closet? Or know someone who does? Share this post with them!

Right now, Salt Lake County Animal Services has more than 200 kittens in foster care, and every kitten needs a safe way to get to and from their foster home. Donated carriers help us continue sending vulnerable kittens into foster care where they can grow, socialize, and receive the individualized care they need before finding their forever homes.

We are accepting clean, gently used hard plastic cat carriers during our business hours:

Meet Toga 🖤🌊

This 1-year-old American Bully is full of wiggles, personality, and adventure. Thanks to our partnership with Dog Mode volunteers through our Hounds Around Town program, we’ve discovered that one of Toga’s favorite things is swimming! Whether he’s splashing in the water, carrying around his favorite toy, or soaking up attention from his people, Toga is always ready to have fun.

Toga is looking for an active family that can match his enthusiasm and help him continue learning and growing. In return, he’ll bring plenty of laughs, love, and loyal companionship.

He’s been waiting since April 1, 2026, for his forever home. Could that be with you?

Yes, that green color is paint.

When he arrived at Salt Lake County Animal Services, our team immediately went to work making sure he was safe, comfortable, and getting the care he needed. While we were able to remove much of the paint and marker, the most important thing was reducing his stress and setting him up for success.

That’s why he’s now heading to a foster home, where he can relax, continue his recovery, and spend time with other kittens his age.

Situations like this are a reminder that if you ever come across an animal that may need help, our team is here as a resource. Whether an animal is injured, abandoned, neglected, or simply in need of assistance, Salt Lake County Animal Services is committed to helping animals get the care and support they deserve.

This little guy’s next chapter is already looking much brighter. 💚🐾
