Some of the greatest adventures don't happen in a single day—they're built over years of just showing up.

When Big Brother Jeff and Little Brother AJ were matched, AJ was just 8 years old. Nine years later, Big Brother Jeff is still playing an important role in his life. Through life's ups and downs, Jeff has been a steady source of encouragement. Recently, they enjoyed a VIP experience at aan Utah Mammoth's hockey game.

As a competitive swimmer with dreams of competing in college, AJ knows he has someone who believes in him every step of the way. And through Jeff's own life milestones—including getting married and becoming a father—he has continued to make time to invest in AJ.

That's what mentoring looks like. Not having all the answers. Not being perfect. Just choosing to show up for someone else 2-4 hours a month.

This summer, we're looking for more men to Lead the Adventure and become a steady presence a young person's life.

Meet Big Brother Trey and Little Brother Aweys.

For the past four years, they've built a friendship through shared adventures—from playing sports and watching movies to attending Jazz games and even the NBA All-Star Game (thanks to a partnership through BBBSU).

When Trey became a mentor, he simply wanted to be the kind of role model he wished he'd had growing up.

"There were a lot of times in my life when I needed more mentorship or could have used a Big Brother of my own, so it was important to me to be able to give that to someone else. I get more out of the program than I put into it. For any man looking for more purpose or fulfillment, becoming a Big Brother is one of the best decisions you can make."

This summer, we're looking for 90 men in 90 days to help boys across Utah discover what's possible through mentorship.

Connection is at the heart of everything we do.

This week, our team gathered for our Summer Staff Retreat to learn and explore how we can better serve youth in our communities.

We practiced techniques to help regulate the nervous system, heard from a speaker with Utah State University Extension about adolescent brain development and how curiosity helps build trust, and spent time connecting with one another through some friendly competition.

We’re grateful for every member of our team who dedicates their skills, time, and passion to supporting children and teens across our state, and works to create spaces where they feel seen, heard, and valued.
