🎥 November 19 — Breaking Chains: In Our Own Voice

Created by the Film Crew Collective at the Utah State Correctional Facility, this special screening will explore housing, reentry, and the lived experiences of people impacted by incarceration.

🌟 Special November Guest: Director Bo Landin will be joining us in person, along with co-producers Casey and Sterling, who share their own lived experiences of incarceration in the film. Following the screening, they’ll engage with attendees, share their perspectives, and participate in a special Q&A and community conversation.

The Salt Lake City metro ranks eighth in the nation for how far home prices have outpaced wages since 1990.

The area's house price-to-income ratio jumped 155% between 1990 and 2025, according to a WalletHub ranking based on Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies data.

Two more Utah metros made the top 20. Ogden ranked 16th with a 138% increase, and the Logan metro, which crosses into Idaho, ranked 17th at 136%.

WalletHub evaluated 387 metro areas. Bend, Oregon, led the country with a 233% increase.

Western metros dominate the list. Every metro in the top 10 is in the West, and only two in the top 30, Miami and Burlington, Vermont, are outside the region.

1. Bend, Ore.: 233%
2. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho: 185%
3. Missoula, Mont.: 169%
4. Bozeman, Mont.: 168%
5. Pocatello, Idaho: 157%
6. Bellingham, Wash.: 156%
7. Corvallis, Ore.: 155%
8. Salt Lake City-Murray, Utah: 155%
9. Walla Walla, Wash.: 154%
10. Longview-Kelso, Wash.: 150%

The Utah Housing and Community Development Division has opened two new housing opportunities for developers and municipalities across the state.

The State Surplus Land Program (SSLP) is accepting qualifications from developers interested in transforming surplus state-owned properties into attainable housing, with responses due within 30 days of the September 18 posting.

The State Housing Infrastructure Program (SHIP) is also accepting applications from municipalities seeking infrastructure financing to support attainable, owner-occupied housing, with applications open for 45 days beginning September 17.
