💦👟 “There’s water running all over my classroom!”

When that call came over the walkie at Cottonwood Elementary , custodian Val Westover did what he always does and jumped into action!

What he wasn’t expecting? A surprise visit from the Thank You Thursday crew! 🎉💙

Principal Terri Cooper nominated Mr. Val with a heartfelt two-page nomination, calling him “one of the heartbeats of Cottonwood Elementary” and “the kind of person who makes a school feel like home.” Mr. Val doesn’t just take care of the building, he takes care of the people in it.

Thank you, Val, for making Cottonwood a happier, warmer and more welcoming place every day.

🤯 32,500 student weekend kits. 38,000 snack kits. And an incredible team of volunteers!

Every year, we’re blown away by the generosity of local businesses, like our partners at Vivint. Their employees rolled up their sleeves to assemble 70,500 kits for Granite students!

We couldn’t provide this support to students and educators without our amazing donors and volunteers. ❤️

We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!! 📣📣

Our first Thank You Thursday of the 2026-2027 school year is starting off with a bang! Meet Sian Bennett, K-5 Special Education Teacher at Park Elementary! Principal Heidi Draper nominated Sian and said:

"Sian is a natural teacher! She came into our school and immediately began to make a difference with both students and teachers. She approaches her job with optimism and determination and, despite a very heavy workload, still finds a way to smile and laugh through the day. Sian connects with people and has already rooted herself to our AP community. Many students and families have told me how much they appreciate her patient and proactive approach to teaching. We are so lucky to have her at Academy Park!"

And we're lucky to be able to celebrate her today! Congrats Sian!
