Emery Street Sewer Project Update – August 21

Work on the Emery Street sewer project is continuing to move south. The section between 600 South and 700 South has been completed, and crews are now working at 700 South and Emery Street and moving toward Indiana Avenue.

A few things to know:

Emery Street is closed to through traffic from 600 South to Indiana Avenue. Please follow posted detours.

A temporary bypass sewer system is operating 24/7, so nearby residents may notice some additional nighttime noise.

Expect lane closures, excavation work, temporary driveway impacts, and some short-term sewer service interruptions as work progresses.

No parking is currently allowed on Emery Street in the work area.

Work is generally scheduled Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.

There are several construction projects happening around Poplar Grove right now. The City has put together a page with updates and information on the different projects:

We’ll continue sharing updates that may be helpful to our neighborhood as we receive them.

Contruction Update from Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities. The Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities (SLCDPU) is planning to repair a section of sewer pipeline in Emery Street between 600 South and 700 South and replace the sewer pipeline from 700 South to Indiana Avenue with a new larger pipe.

*Beginning Tuesday, August 18, work will begin with replacing the sewer line from Indiana Avenue to 700 South. This work requires trenching in the road and Emery Street will be closed to through traffic. This work will go through mid-October.

*The project will install a bypass sewer system during the work to keep the sewer flowing. This system requires a generator to operate the pumping system, and it will be active 24/7.

*Work is scheduled Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We’re a little late getting these photos posted, but we couldn’t let the fun go undocumented!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Dinosaur Disco as we celebrated Kosmo, Poplar Grove’s newest landmark and one of the newest additions to the Westside. It was wonderful to see neighbors, families, and friends come together for an evening of music, dancing, refreshments, and plenty of dinosaur-sized fun.

A special thank you to DB Productions Utah for providing the photo booth and helping us capture these memories. With Kosmo towering in the background, the photos turned out pretty great!

Check out the album and see if you can spot yourself, your family, friends, or neighbors. We hope these photos bring back some great memories from a fun night in Poplar Grove!

Thank you for helping make Dinosaur Disco such a wonderful community celebration. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
